E ho’i hou i homelani
(Returning to our Heavenly Home)
An original oil painting by classmate Lisa (Morrett) Reid Cole
Size: 25 X 30 oil on canvas, framed in Koa veneer frame
This beautiful painting was offered for purchase via a private auction exclusively to the Punahou Class of 1972 in honor of their 50th Reunion. The painting was displayed during the Reunion.
This was a private fundraising auction by the Reunion Committee. The opening bid was $1,800.00 and bidded closing on Sunday, June 12 at well above the minimum sale price. The net proceeds of the sale went to the Class fund to underwrite reunion expenses and add to our class fund.
Artist’s statement:
This particular piece aims to extoll the theme of our reunion of voyaging home with the rough waters of life becoming calm seas the closer we get to our “heavenly” home in Hawaii. The metaphor of Hokule‘a in the light of this journey is a nod to this theme and our inspiration.
